Julia’s darling camper inspired me twelve years ago to search for one to buy. I would check eBay listings religiously and one day the perfect Shasta camper was for sale. Christening her The Cowgirl Camper, I rented her out as an Airbnb for five years. Until the pandemic. I live in the Berkshires. I had young couples coming from NYC and Boston—it became so popular that I could hardly have time to change the sheets. Julia, you gave such perfect descriptions of these magic conveyers back in time. I have you to thank for my beloved Shasta as well as an intro to the Sisters. I bet this essay will send someone on a search for one.
Love Horse Tooth, but have a greater appreciation of it after reading your story! I also enjoyed learning more about the Sisters on the Fly organization. I had no idea the organization was so widespread. What a wonderful network of women sharing the beauty and renewal of nature! Another enjoyable read. Thanks, Julia!
The storied history of Sisters on the Fly is amazing! What a wonderful way to meet & interact with other women from all walks of life who enjoy the same interests & activities. Best of all, you have FUN!! We here in northern Colorado are so lucky to have Horsetooth Reservoir close. Your descriptions of the place are beautiful! Thank you for sharing with your readers the account of your "Wild" time at the reservoir with other Colorado "Sisters!" mc
This piece is simply delicious and absolutely perfect! Love the camping camaraderie of the Sisters and the fun photos! I wanted to "savor the sunrise" with you and your morning coffee and "paddle in placid lakes" and touch those chenille curtains and see your vintage trailer! Fantastic!
love this, Marsha, your comment just made my day! thank you!!
Loved this article Julia-felt like I was almost there!
